Jeanius Overalls!

Denim has made an amazing comeback! Dresses, skirts, shorts, the ever classic jean jacket and of course, any style of jeans on the face of the earth which brings us to the jean overall.
Ralph Lauren Spring 2010  - The first look features a soft shirt and hat with distressed and teared overalls. The girly flats are the icing on the cake! The second look shows how you can throw in a little bit of menswear in the mix and look fabulous!

H&M  has come up with a similar version of these overalls for about $49.99 CDN which is great if you are shopping on a budget.
If you are ready for this trend, you can dress them up, dress them down, make your look more preppy, beachy, rocker chic and even glam them up. Here are some ideas:
Now lets talk makeup...

Try keeping your make up it soft and simple by going as natural as possible. Try beautiful pastels and soft golds to accentuate the eyes and cheek bones. Go for a nude lip or a  rosy hue.

Flower belt DYI

Who would have thought that something so simple as paring flowers with a  belt could be so chic!

This spring we are seeing flowers everywhere!!! from Valentino's classic shoes and bags to ROCHAS SPRING 2010 smart take on the flower belt. Here is how to make this a quick and easy look.....
You can find flower pins almost anywhere for a very reasonable price. All you need is a very thin belt or even a long piece of lace, fabric, even ribbon if you want to get creative and simply attach one, two, three as many flowers as you like, big and small, the arrangement is up to you but remember, when it comes to novelty pieces its always best to limit yourself to one item per outfit, you don't want to make this a "theme" and look like a fairy!
You can play with colors and do a tone on tone or mixing earth tones, citrus, nautical, anything goes! this is an easy and cheap trend to keep up with!

Chunky anklets!

I got some inspiration from Lanvin's SPRING 2010 ankle chained pumps they are so hot!
The best part? you don't have to invest much money to get the look you can always make one from a chained necklace and wear it on one leg to add an unexpected twist to your outfit or you can wear them on both legs to give your pumps an instant update! You can get a pair of chains from stores like H&M and Aldo for less than $20. You can mix and match with your flats, platforms, wedges and more!

Wear boots this summer!

Vintage boots, biker boots, combat boots even rain boots, they are all the rage this season!!! I have put together a couple of looks I'm loving this spring. You can mix romantic, girlie pieces like ruffles, lace, silk with some hardcore boots Some good candidates are the open toe boots from Alexander Wang, the amazing vintage boots from Jeffrey Campbell and even the textured Hunter boots (even if you can't get the Jimmy Choo ones) Hunter has created a similar design for a fraction of the price!! I know sky high boots were super hot last fall but try keeping it under the knee this spring!

ROPE IT UP!!!

I'm loving wearing a rope as a belt, yes! a rope. You can be creative and use fabric, nylon, even the ones you use for holding your curtains, anything goes!! try keeping it simple with the rest of your outfit and make a statement by wrapping one of those bad boys around you!

Ideas for April 30, 2010

Here are some fabulous ideas for casual Friday at work or a night out!

When in doubt, wear a white tank

Here's a tip for those days when you are running late or having a
"I have nothing to wear" moment. A white tank top works wonders when you need to tone down an outfit and make it more casual .
It can also be used as a great canvas for colorful accessories and daring jewelry.

Clogs, clogs, clogs!

Clogs are in this season , thanks to Chanel's spring 2010 collection, we have learned to love these wooden pieces of art. I have to be honest, when I first saw them I didn't know what to make of them. I remember wearing them when I was little but the idea of running around in these Swedish inspired shoes was a little shocking to me so I decided to go to a shoe store and try a pair on.... They are so comfortable! and the best part is  you can dress them up, dress them down, wear them with jeans, shorts, dresses, the possibilities are endless!

If you are not ready to wear the full version and pay the big bucks for this trend, a lot of brands like Zara, Aldo and Steve Madden are offering their own spin on these beauties and the best part...they are very affordable!

One dres, two looks

Here's how to dress up or dress down! If you want to make the best out of your wardrobe and dress down your strapless dress for the weekend, yes! you heard me! I'm talking grocery shopping and brunching OR if you want to dress it down enough to take to the office without looking like you are trying too hard, here are a couple of ideas... here are the visuals.....

LOOK NUMBER ONE.....COMFY ENOUGH TO TAKE SHOPPING AND LUNCH ON A SATURDAY!!!

AND HERE IS THE SECOND ONE PERFECT FOR THE OFFICE.........

Leather pastels and white

Ok So I am thinking soft pastel leather and white pants are a hot combo you can mix and match with amazing shoes and a simple top OR amazing top and killer shoes OR add some amazing accessories, you can mix and match heavy hardware necklaces, rings, earrings or bracelets but remember, if you are going to go big on the earrings, try to keep it low key on the neck area unless you are posing for a Moschino campaign or dressing up as a 90's supermodel for Halloween,  its a simple rule to follow, here are some visuals I hope this helps if you are feeling uninspired or have some sort of fashion block (it happens to the best of us!!!!!)

The beginning

They were sketches of my outfits, I was planning my outfits in my head and then I would draw them and color them.. I wasn't trying to design anything but I distinctively remember merchandising them and playing with the colors and textures... I had seen these clothes at my favorite stores and they were part of my wish list for Christmas or my Birthday so if I was lucky enough to get them all, I wouldn't have to worry about putting a look together and even if I didn't get them all, I would use what I had in my closet and make it work.......that's when I knew how much I cared about fashion, I was 10.
